You can use fleece bedding instead of disposal bedding like Carefresh. Also, you can buy large amounts of hay in bulk (for example, through Small Pet Select), which is more cost-efficient than buying small bags at the pet store.Lola, Buffy, and Broccolihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13184277366545421212noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5013085805224098181.post-24975989586394732822013-07-12T02:51:34.687-04:002013-07-12T02:51:34.687-04:00$30 a WEEK??? One possible (although unlikely) exception is the lymphocytic choriomeningitis virus (LCMV), which "can be transmitted to humans by rodents, including... on occasion, guinea pigs." LCMV infections are very rare from what we've read, so try not to worry too much unless you start seeing symptoms. Do they get along right away or will they fight? I want to get another piggy but am worried they will not get along. Also our piggy isn't very vocal? We are actually considering switching to hay from Kleenmama (http://www.kmshayloft.com/) because it's fresher and cheaper in bulk. Once we receive our first order, we will post a review :)Lola, Buffy, and Broccolihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13184277366545421212noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5013085805224098181.post-32544307460581764742011-05-28T16:27:54.362-04:002011-05-28T16:27:54.362-04:00I get hay from a farm in my state, and it's MU...I get hay from a farm in my state, and it's MUCH cheaper and higher quality this way. Highly recommend it if your location enables you to.I got 5 pounds of Timothy for 7 bucks, and I don't have to deal with those annoying dust particles. I swear, the last store brand timothy hay I got had at least 3 good handfuls of small particles at the bottom of the bag!Melissahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05204388991747736186noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5013085805224098181.post-78594672106767760352011-05-09T14:30:32.071-04:002011-05-09T14:30:32.071-04:00Haha! Only at meal times i.e. the morning and in the afternoon when we get home so we don't get woken up or anything :S. They like hay that's for sure but they don't seem to wheek about it. For them its all about the kale and carrots! We change our bedding 2 or 3 times a week too because it gets smelly. Agree with many of your points, especially on how long they live for. Going on holiday will be a nightmare for you so you'd better be sure you love your piggies and find them a nice foster parent for the time you're away (not just any old person as some people think!).Meemohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01419571616796884314noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5013085805224098181.post-17343224278659372832011-04-10T09:53:12.087-04:002011-04-10T09:53:12.087-04:00Thank you, Jason!Thank you, Jason!Lola, Buffy, and Broccolihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13184277366545421212noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5013085805224098181.post-87034727867029495232011-04-10T09:10:04.786-04:002011-04-10T09:10:04.786-04:00nice blog entry.... keep it up... :)
