Can Guinea Pigs Eat Cilantro?

We love cilantro! I think we'll give it 5 out of 5 stars. We smelled it and got excited as soon as our humans brought it close to our cage.

That smells delicious! Hurry up and bring it here!
Yum!
One of the great things about cilantro is that it's stringy. That keeps Lola busy eating while I'm trying to eat my share. I hate it when she steals food right out my mouth. So rude!

Well, that went quick!

  1. Definitely can and most would love it! My guinea pigs used to have it (over here, we have coriander) mixed with other greens like parsley, spinach, bok choy (asian green), choy sum (asian green).

I'm glad you guys tried it anyway :)

    1. You don't want to really over due anything and you don't want to make them bored of it. I give my piggies a total of maybe 15 stems a few times a week. I'm sure you could do more. I just want my piggies to remember that it's a treat.

    1. It is delicious, so we can see why! I think carrots are still our favorite, though.

  8. We have two piggies...Poe who is an Abyssinian, and Finnian who is a domestic short hair...Poe runs from cilantro, while Finnian can't eat it fast enough! That's OK, because Poe loves green beans, and Finnian will not touch them. So if I want to give them foods that they will not steal from each other, cilantro and green beans it is!

    1. When our humans are concerned about us stealing food from each other, they will often slice up the food into smaller pieces so no one can grab the whole thing and run with it. Getting multiple foods that only one pig likes works too. :-)
