Can Guinea Pigs Eat Butternut Squash?

Now that Halloween is over, we're looking forward to a slew of Thanksgiving food-related posts. First up on the menu is butternut squash. We can eat butternut squash, a type of winter squash, 2-4 times per week. We should only be fed the orange flesh; don't feed us the stalk, stem, or seeds.

It looks like a carrot, but tastes even better!
Yum yum yum!
We give it 5/5 stars! In case you were wondering, we prefer to eat this raw, as we do with most fresh foods.

  2. Lol - that's awesome! Maybe Astro and Mika will like it... probably not, they only like the same old foods, they are VERY boring piggies... they only eat broccoli (not the piggy), carrot, celary, capsicum and parsley! Hopefully they girls will be more adventurous... oh and did I mention we might be getting a texel friend?

    1. I'm new here my guinea pig's name is Benjamin buttons he's 5 months old I wish my family would have researched and bought one of his siblings along with him because everyone is telling me I cannot add another guinea pig with him because he's already mature and they will fight and one will kill the other does anyone have any information that they could share with me about this I cannot afford to have to put another pic into another cage I do not have the room

    3. Hi Lynn,
You can certainly add guinea pigs after they're already mature, but you have to be careful about it. See some of our recent posts about guinea pig introductions for more info.

    1. Get her to know the sound of your voice. Let her hear you before you enter so she's knows it's you. I leave "Golden Girls" show playing when I'm not home. This helped my 2 girls adapt. Pigs can only really see sideways so I wait for them to turn around before I greet them. I hope this helps! My piggies names are Herminie age 4, and Snuggles age 3 months.
