Can Guinea Pigs Eat Jicama?

Jicama can be fed to guinea pigs, but we weren't able to find information on how often, so feed this food sparingly until better information is available.

Jicama. That's new. Let's try it!
Jicama isn't very good. I'd rather eat shoes than jicama!
I can't believe you girls like this stuff. I'm going home!
I don't know what the girls see in this jicama stuff. It's like an apple without the flavor. I suppose I'll give jicama 3/5 stars since they liked it, but if it was up to me, it would get a much lower rating.

5/5 stars for the shoe though!

    1. Thanks again for the awards!

The humans bring us home all kinds of foods we've never heard of before trying them.

  3. Hi! Phinny and Ferb here...so our humans have been feeding us Oxbow Cavy Cuisine and Vitakraft Vita Nature. We get 1/8 cup of pellets each a day and it is a mix of half oxbow and half vitakraft. Our humans are wondering if this is an okay pellet feed arrangement. Us piggies don't eat oxbow if it is the only thing in our dish. We don't mind it if they mix it in with our yummy vitanature. Then we'll eat it all. What do you guys think?

    1. Pellet mixes like Vitakraft Vita Nature are not the best choice because they "make pigs obese, make them picky eaters because they pick out the bits and bobs and leave the pellets." Are you sure you've given Oxbow Cavy Cuisine a fair chance? We have it for breakfast every morning, and we love it. Maybe your human could slowly phase out the Vitakraft?

    2. Well our humans say thanks-that they will try to phase it out of our diet. We have some exciting news- we just acquired a new silkie piggy. He has a story like broccoli-found cold and sick outside. Except we live in Alaska so it's freeZing!! Us piggy's whine when our humans open the door...we can't imagine trying to survive in our negative temperatures but this guy is a fighter. He can't come into our condo to play yet because he is on some meds and critical care diet. Our human girl says he is a fighter like her bc they are both fighting odds together. Thanks again for all your informative posts that keep our humans educated on how to spoil us. :)
