Can Guinea Pigs Eat Green Leaf Lettuce?

We guinea pigs love almost all forms of greenery, but a classic green food that we love is lettuce. We've tried different forms of lettuce in the past, but we hadn't tried "green leaf lettuce" before. This type of lettuce is curly, crunchy, and a nice grassy green color. Green leaf lettuce can be fed to us almost daily.

I'm staying back. Those two are having dominance issues!
See? Broccoli points his head aggressively at Lola...
...and then Lola points her head aggressively right back!
While Lola and Broccoli had their aggressive rivalry for dominance, I sneaked pieces of lettuce and ate them alone in the back. One thing all three of us can agree on is that green leaf lettuce gets 5/5 stars!

  1. Can you give me information on how to take care of a hairless (skinny-pigs) guinea pigs? And where to adopt them?

    1. Your profile says you are in Denver, so we found the closest guinea pig rescue to you. It's called Cavy Care Inc, and they currently have 17 cute piggies for adoption, although none of them are skinny pigs. Is your heart absolutely set on getting a skinny pig? Those piggies near you look really cute, and could use a good home. If you've only got eyes for skinny pigs, you might want to keep checking back there, as well as Craigslist and Petfinder, until one needs a home near you. (There are skinny pig breeders, of course, but adoption is a much better option!)

In terms of care, the biggest differences are that you need to keep skinny pigs a little warmer, and you have to watch out for injuries and infections because of their exposed skin. Buying soft hay and using a thin layer of Extra Virgin Cold Pressed Coconut Oil on their skin can help with this.

    1. Make sure if you have allergies to wash your hands after touching him or the hay. I get hives if i forget and then touch my face!

  4. From what it sounds like, Broccoli and Lola think they are mates. I see this behavior in my breeding pairs all the time. It's a marital dispute over the food.
