This is pretty good! I'm declaring the rest of it to be mine! |
What's going on with you two? I'm supposed to be the dominant pig!
Did you see how Buffy tried to steal the sweet potato right out of my mouth? I was so shocked by this challenge to my dominance that I ran back to my pigloo. Not my proudest moment.
Anyway, sweet potato was really good at first, though we did get a little bored at the end and left some chunks around the food bowl. We'll give it 4/5 stars.
My piggies love sweet potatoes! It's handy because if I buy them for myself and don't get to use them, I can't give them to the pigs before they go off :)
ReplyDeleteIt is pretty tasty. Just make sure you don't feed it to them too often.
DeleteWhy? Im a brand new owner and Im just curious.
DeleteI love this blog. I just 2, 7 month old piggies last week. I love them so much as does my son. I have a question tho, right now I'm using pine wood shavings. Its what the lady gave me for them. I have learned so much through this blog.
ReplyDeleteMy Guinie pig does not want to eat or drink the only thing that he eats is sweet potato smashed in a bottle. His not pooping much and I dont think his peeing eather. I have no vet. near to take him and Iam scared he could die. Please tell me what can I feed or do to make him well again.
ReplyDeletehave you been feeding it hay? have u put vitamin c drops in his water? also, look at his teeth and see if they are maybe too long or overgrown for your pig to eat....is your pig a male? google impaction...that may be the issue...it is something you can treat at home...
DeleteEvery website I read said not to put vit c drops in their water. Because they may not drink the water, and just waste the drops.
Deletei love my guinie pig he so sweet but idk if i can feel him grass
ReplyDeleteHi Heather. You shouldn't just let your guinea pig munch on your neighbor's lawn, or eat any other grass you're unsure of because it may have been treated with chemicals that aren't good for us. You should check out our post on wheat grass for a type of grass your guinea pig can safely eat. Also, you might want to consider taking your guinea pig to a pignic since they always host them in locations where the grass is untreated.
DeleteBy the way, we gave you a longer response in our new Ask A Guinea Pig post on "Can Guinea Pigs Eat Grass?".
DeleteI know guinea pigs love sweet potatoes, i rescued my piggy Jesse a few weeks ago from my school, they were going to dissect him! Anyway, can I cook the sweet potatoes too? Also what about tinned sweetcorn, I'm just feeding him it on the cob atm but it would be easier just to give him it from a can? One more question, I feed him fine sugarsnap peas atm and he loves them, but can he eat plain garden peas? I've always kept hamsters so I'm kinda learning on the job!!

ReplyDeleteI was wondering on if Dried Sweet potato was good for guinea pigs I bought a bag of Fresh timothy hay for my 1 month pregnant Guinea pig she is due mid may or beginning of June so she is 1 month along I have to pick up some other hay as the feed store was closed and I needed hay but I was just wanting to make sure if dried sweet potato was good for a pregnant guinea pig.
Can I give my guinea pig sweet potato peelings from when I peel my sweet potatoes? He loves carrot shavings - they are almost like fettuccine for him! I'd like to be able to do the same with sweet potatoes and/or yams. Thanks
ReplyDeleteThanks, we just gave Buddy some sliced sweet potatoes just now. He couldn't be happier! It's a treat for him as the starch is something he is definitely not used to.
