Can Guinea Pigs Eat Cherry Tomatoes?

We've reviewed vine-ripened tomatoes before, but never cherry tomatoes. You can feed your guinea pig 1-2 cherry tomatoes per day. Cherry tomatoes are not a hybrid food like pluots; they're just cherry-sized tomatoes.

In our last post, Broccoli was challenging my dominance, so now I need to show that I'm in control of the plate.
I want everyone to see that the last cherry tomato is mine.
Don't even think about it, Broccoli!
Cherry tomatoes get 5/5 stars! The red food pattern continues!

  1. They are adorable!

I have a question... I just recently acquired a gp from someone who was moving. She won't eat fruit or veggies... like at all. I've tried carrots, tomatoes, strawberries, cucumbers, nectarines... she won't eat anything! What should I do? She does nibble a little on green leaf lettuce... but that's all.

    1. Will your guinea pig still eat hay, or is he/she not eating at all? If your guinea pig is not eating at all, you should see the vet immediately. Here's some information on guinea pigs not eating:

If your guinea pig is still eating hay and pellets but not fruits and vegetables, it may help if he/she watches another guinea pig eating them. We can learn what's good to eat by watching others.

    2. She does eat hay and pellets... we are in the process of finding her a friend, but theres no shelters that carry gps, or local people who have any... I'd hate to buy one in a chain store... but might be my only option. Thanks!

By the way, love your blog!!

    3. Glad you like our blog! Thanks for reading.

I'm not sure where you live, but Guinea Pig Today has a "Find a Guinea Pig Rescue" page with a map that you should take a look at if you haven't already. I would also check Petfinder and Craigslist.

  2. thanks - i am taking care of some friends' guinea pig while they are on holiday and they have some ripe tomatoes in their garden and i didn't want them to go to waste. i fed half of a small one to "bubbles" and she seemed to like it, although not as much as carrots or romaine lettuce...
